The Village People (ITV1)
Part of a team of three on this ITV network documentary series, executive produced by Sarah Murch.  Based entirely on location in Cheshire, researching the lives of the villagers in the parish.  Conducted extensive interviews and in order to tailor narratives for the series.

The Blue Whale (Granada Satellite)
Researching the VT’s and studio items for James Whale’s late night chat show.  Responsible for booking celebrities &#38; performers, preparing producer’s briefs whilst working to strict deadlines. 

Healthy Holidays (Granada Satellite)
Reporting to the Producer, Nina Oller-Stracey, was tasked with researching the programme content for 10 location VT’s in the UK and Europe. Liaised with tourist boards and tour operators to co-ordinate the filming and permits.

January - September 2003

RESEARCHER / ASSISTANT PRODUCER
Tern Television, Glasgow

Reporting to Series Producer, Jayne Howells, was tasked with finding 15 contributors in need of a garden makeover in order to sell their property in the Glasgow area. Shortlisted contributors applications before arranging recee of each location with the producer. Once contributors had been finalised, acting as their main point of contact during the production.

Wrote briefs for all the contributors as well as collating call sheets and scripts for the team. Present throughout filming to brief contributors and forward plan the next day’s filming, Drove presenters to and from location every morning. Help with gardening and painting when finishing touches were needed to the makeover. In post-production, collated release &#38; consents, location agreements and website material.

In Series 2, filming took place in the Buckinghamshire &#38; Northamptonshire area. Additional assistant producer responsibilities included sourcing local on-screen property experts and garden labouring team, co-ordinating the relocation of the production office.

RESEARCHER
ITV Entertainment, Manchester

Reporting to Series Producer, Lee Connolly, as one of four researchers tasked with finding 12 families to take part in this prime time Saturday night family series. Each family had to have a celebrity stay with them for 3 days.  The celebrity then had to learn a skill related to the family before competing in studio to win dream prizes for that family.  The series was presented by Melanie Sykes.

Had to firstly shortlist families from 3,000 applications to 30. From this list, then interview each family and family member on the phone before embarking on a two week contestant tour around the UK, visiting each family in their homes.

Upon returning to the production office, pitched each family to the series producer with relevant research material (video footage/photographs and biographies) before the final line up was selected.

Assisted the PD’s with the location filming at the family’s house prior to the studio record. Liaised with press offices/agencies to acquire free or discounted prizes for the shows. On studio day, was responsible for briefing the family and their general wellbeing.

RESEARCHER
ITV Entertainment, London

Reporting to James Sunderland (Producer) was primarily responsible for the ‘Grab the Ads’ and ‘Win the Ads’ section of this live Saturday night prime-time entertainment show which attracting over 9 million viewers a week. This involved finding 100 players to take part in the game each week picked from an average of over 5000 phone line entrants.   

Each contestant had to be interviewed and profiled for the  producer/presenters. Responsible for creating a board of prizes for the game generated from the adverts during the commercial breaks in the previous week’s viewing on ITV1.  

Liaising with graphics and compliance to get the prize board ready for the show. Post-production, acted as a point of contact for the press office for the prize winners as well as ensuring they received their prizes. In addition to my competition role, actively participated in the generation ideas for other strands in the show such as ‘What’s Next?’ and ‘Little Ant &#38; Dec’.

Participated in rehearsal sessions with the presenters and producers, standing in for guests and presenters in order to perfect items. Also helped arranging surprises on unsuspecting audience members and assisted celebrity booking supervising guests where necessary.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

Reporting to Producer, Lee Connolly, this one off 90 minutes show was commissioned as part of ITV’s 50th anniversary celebrations for ITV1 Entertainment. Presented by Chris Tarrant, this series tested the linguistics skills of 12 celebrities in a spelling bee competition raising money for their selected charities.

Worked alongside the producer to adapt this US format to suit a UK audience. Headed up a team tasked with creating the linguistic content of the show, developing word games and spelling rounds. Sourced linguistics experts from Oxford University Press as well as the current US Spelling Bee champion to take part in the show. 

Whilst the producer was on paternity leave, took on the responsibility of the day to day running of the production. On studio day, was responsible for word verification and acted as the main point of contact for our graphics &#38; games system team.

Reporting to Chris Greenwood (Series Producer) and subsequently Mark Wells (Executive Producer), heading up the research team who were responsible for booking, researching and interviewing guests for Michael Parkinson.

Each week produced one guest interview on behalf of the host. This involved reading and condensing extensive press cuttings and presenting them in a detailed, clear and concise biography, along with suggested interview questions and structure. Trailing through archive clips for each guest, selecting and clearing clips for use on the show. Conducting a pre-interview with the guest in person or on the phone before presenting the notes from this interview to the host.

Monitoring newspapers, magazines and TV shows to generating guest ideas for the show. Building and maintaining professional relationships with agents, publicists and guests. Attending film screenings, music showcase and press launches to keep across the latest releases and talent to ensure we bring the brightest and the best to the show. On studio day, supervised the insert edits as well as chaperoning the talent and their entourage. 

Notable guests I produced included Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Denzel Washington, Renee Zellwegger, Sir Paul McCartney, Ricky Gervais, Lauren Bacall and Sharon Osbourne.

Reporting to Series Producer, Nick Symons, working on this ITV1 pilot before returning to work on the Series 1 after it's subsquent commission.  Assisted the Entertainment Producer in booking talent on this prime-time Saturday night comedy chat show series.  Managed the work load of the research team and signed off weekly biographies/presenter notes on behalf of the producer.

Actively generating comedy items and ideas for the presenter to incorporate as part of the guest interviews.
Participated in rehearsal sessions with the presenter and comedy writer to gauge appropriate material and interview structure. On studio day was on hand to assist the producer, produce the guest interviews and as a main point of contact for guests. 

Post-production, assisted the producer in the weekly edits, sourced promo clips for press department and dealt with any clearance issues.

Guests booked included Buzz Aldrin, Shane Warne, Jerry Springer, Jason Donovan and Jodie Kidd.

Part of the team that helped take This Morning to new heights by winning three National Television Awards for Best Topical Programme in 2011;  Best Factual Programme in 2012 and Best Daytime Programme in 2013.

Booking guests for in studio interviews, music performances, film junkets and behind the scenes VT’s as well as developing ideas for specials such as Soap Week, Musicals Week and The Muppets Takeover special. Monitoring newspapers, magazines and TV shows to keep across the celebrity stories as well as being reactive to breaking showbiz news stories eg. deaths, trial verdicts.

Generating guest ideas for the show taking into account compliance and legal guidelines.

Building and maintaining professional relationships with agents, publicists and guests. Managing the entertainment team. Supervising their bookings whilst encouraging them to develop editorial skills and key relationships with contacts

From October 2011 - February 2012 acted up as Head of Entertainment, running the department singlehandedly during one of its most busiest periods

Top name exclusive guests secured for the show include Sir Michael Caine, Will Smith, Sir David Jason, Dame Helen Mirren, Rihanna, Adele and Goldie Hawn.
